The Miami Beach Democratic Club held elections for seven spots on our executive board during our membership meeting on Monday, June 22 at 7 PM. Thank you to all Club members who participated and cast their votes and congratulations to the new Board! Get to know them by visiting our Executive Leadership page. Also, don't forget to join our next membership meeting on Monday, July 20 at 7 PM.
The meeting took place over Zoom and we used an online voting service called ElectionBuddy to tabulate votes. 72 members were in attendance. As this was our first time using ElectionBuddy, we first conducted a practice vote, then proceeded to the elections which were overseen by out-going President Dan Royles. Here's a summary of the election results:
Ariel Morel and Matthew Land were nominated. A vote was conducted, which Matthew won, 57-15.
Mike Caffey was the sole candidate and he was elected by acclamation.
Victoria Villamil was the sole candidate. Amanda Knapp was nominated from the floor, but declined the nomination. Victoria was elected by acclamation.
Patrick Breshike was the sole candidate and he was elected by acclamation.
Richard Kastle was the sole candidate and he was elected by acclamation.
Janis Good was the sole candidate and she was elected by acclamation.
Tim Johnson was the sole candidate and he was elected by acclamation.
Meet the new Board of Directors!
After the elections were finished, retiring President Dan Royles thanked the club and said he would be available to help the leadership from his position as the Miami-Dade DEC Interclub Council Chair.
We want to take a moment to thank all of the out-going Board members - Dan Royles, Ariel Morel and Ileana Oroza - for their incredible work. Under their leadership and guidance we have collectively built the club into a exemplary model, setting the standard for other Democratic clubs in Miami-Dade. We are committed to continuing this work to #FlipFloridaBlue and win the Presidency in 2020!
