Statement from the MBDC regarding Iran and executive military action

The Constitution is clear: the power to declare war rests with Congress.

Any military action taken without congressional authorization undermines the checks and balances that protect our democracy. Regardless of who occupies the White House or which regime is involved abroad, decisions that put lives at risk and commit our nation to conflict must be subject to congressional approval.

Our democracy depends on accountability, transparency, and respect for the Constitution.
