We had another energizing General Membership Meeting this past Monday! A huge thanks to our special guests: candidate for Florida Attorney General Aramis Ayala, and chair of Ruth's List Miami Mary Ann Ruiz, Esq.! If you missed it, you can read on for a quick recap or read the full minutes. Thank you to everyone who attended, including our new members!

The meeting was held at the Marseilles Hotel, with many folks also participating on Zoom. After several new members introduced themselves, President David Geller gave his report, giving special mention to the upcoming Gubernatorial Forum being put on by the Miami-Dade Dems. He also mentioned that the recent news concerning the overturn of Roe v Wade may very well activate more Dems for the coming election. He also also reported that we have $9,200 in the bank. Then Vice President Amanda Knapp gave a rundown of our upcoming events (see below or click here).

Then it was on to our special guests!

First up was Aramis Ayala, who is running to be the Florida Attorney General. She gave a rousting defense of basic rights, made her case for why we should support her candidacy, and then took questions from the audience. Then we had Mary Ann Ruiz, Esq., who is the chair of Ruth's List Miami. She described Ruth's List's mission (which is to elect pro-choice Democrats), spoke passionately about the current precarious state of abortion rights, and answered a bunch of questions. We also invited some other folks to speak to our members: Tania from Miami Beach United; Angel Montalvo, who is running for Congress in FL-27; and Gianna, who is the campaign manager for Janelle Perez, a candidate for State Senate.

Next we had committee chairs deliver reports on Communications, Organizing, Programming, and Voter Registration.
