We want you to get more involved in local government! Read on for exciting opportunities that are specific to Miami Beach.
Join a City Board or Committee
Did you know that Miami Beach City Commissioners appoint residents to city boards and committees to advise on local government? There are vacancies that need to be filled on the Disability Access Committee, the Health Advisory Committee, the LGBTQ Advisory Committee, the Miami Beach Commission For Women, the Senior Affairs Committee, just to name a few! See the full list of vacancies as of March 1 for more. We've created a form that you can use to sign up for a committee spot (note that you'll need to upload your resume):
City of Miami Beach Leadership Academy
Leadership Academy is a free, 12-week curriculum open to the Miami Beach public. Each class will instruct members on municipal structure and workflow, give them an opportunity to network with city staff, connect them with volunteer opportunities, teach them about homeowner and condominium associations, and develop their leadership skills with personalized assessments and interactive activities.
There's no deadline to apply, and the next class will tentatively start on Monday, April 1. Sessions run for 12 weeks and meet every Monday (with the exception of federal holidays) from 6-8 PM at City Hall. Can't make the spring session? The next session one will be in the fall, likely around September.
